Texas: Mother Finds 16-year-old Daughter Murdered in Bathtub in her Apartment

Lizbeth Medina, a cheerleader at Edna High School, was found dead in a bathtub at her apartment on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. Her mother discovered her after she missed the Christmas parade.

Who was Lizbeth Medina?

Lizbeth Medina was a cheerleader at Edna High School. She was an only child and had aspirations to become a nurse. A single mother raised her and was close with her grandparents, aunts, and uncles. She loved her family, and they all loved her. According to her family, her face lit up with joy whenever she cheered for her high school football team.

She was born and raised in Grand Island, Nebraska. She moved to Edna, Texas, only a year ago with her mother, Jacqueline Medina, after her mother got a job there.

What happened to Lizbeth Medina?

According to the Edna Police Department, Lizbeth Medina was supposed to be at a Christmas parade with her cheering squad but never showed. Her mother rushed to her home in Cottonwood Apartments to check on her. She found her daughter unresponsive in a bathtub at the apartment on Tuesday, December 5, 2023. She called 911, and the Police arrived and found her dead. Her death was ruled as murder.

According to her aunt, Ana Medina, “Lizbeth was getting ready to go to school- she was still in her pajamas.” Edna Police released a statement on Thursday and told the public that “in conjunction with the Texas Rangers, we are working diligently to locate and bring to justice the individual responsive for the death of Lizbet.”

The Edna Police Department has also posted on Facebook that revealed a person of interest. A description of a vehicle that could be associated with her alleged murder has been mentioned in the post.  Lizbeth’s family has established a GoFundMe page. The goal is set at 20,000 dollars. Over 12,000 dollars have been raised. The funds will help the family with unexpected funeral and burial expenses.
