The worlds of professional wrestling and celebrity have often overlapped with each other in many ways. It is something that dates back for decades. From Muhammad Ali making an appearance at the inaugural WrestleMania to Bad Bunny stepping into the ring in Puerto Rico, celebrities and wrestling will always be something that overlaps. However, you may not know that there are some celebrities who are related to some of professional wrestling's biggest names. Let's get to learn about some of these down below.

David Otunga Was Married To Jennifer Hudson

They Were Together For 10 Years Before Breaking Up

  • The two were a couple from 2007-2017.
  • They were engaged seven months after meeting.
  • Hudson was a former American Idol contestant and has released three albums.

With a physique chiseled out of granite and a law degree from Harvard, David Otunga had the pedigree to be the kind of WWE Superstar that could have been a big star in the company. But unfortunately, he seemed to lack the charisma needed to be a megastar for the company.

For ten years (and most of Otunga’s WWE run), he was married to American Idol alum, Jennifer Hudson. The two had gotten married in 2008 and Hudson gave birth to their son in 2009. However, they had gotten divorced in 2017.

Gail Kim Is Married To Robert Irvine

The Couple Met At SummerSlam

Close
  • The two married on May 10, 2012.
  • Irvine is a celebrity chef who hosts Restaurant: Impossible.
  • They met on the set of Dinner: Impossible during a WWE challenge.

In WWE, Gail Kim never really got a chance to shine. WWE at the time did not take women's wrestling seriously and did not give them the time or respect they deserved. Which is why she thrived more in TNA, where they didn’t necessarily want only beauties but some beauties that could wrestle in the ring.

During her tenure in WWE, she met celebrity chef Robert Irvine, who specializes in rescuing weddings and restaurants. Irvine was catering at SummerSlam and the two would marry in 2012.

  • No one is exactly sure how the two are related.
  • Terry Funk had forgotten that the two were related.

Leave it to a pair of cantankerous, ornery men to not even realize that they are related. But depending on what source you find on the internet, actor Billy Bob Thornton and the legendary Terry Funk are either cousins or uncle and nephew.

Sticking with Funk’s own biography, someone had to remind the Funker that he’s Thornton’s uncle. In other articles, they are step-cousins and Thornton was such a bad boy that even the Hardcore Hall of Famer removed himself from the familial relationship.

Jungle Boy Is Luke Perry's Son

  • Jack Perry is the son of Luke and his first wife, Rachel Minnie Sharp.
  • Luke Perry passed away on March 4, 2019.

If you grew up during the nineties, Luke Perry meant a lot of things to a lot of fans from a pop culture standpoint. As Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, he was a huge crush to girls and cool enough for guys to want to try and emulate him. He was also a huge wrestling fan and was at a lot of shows, sometimes bringing his young son, Jack.

Jack Perry would go on to become Jungle Boy in AEW. During his time on the indies, he even wrestled a tribute match to his late father, against Perry’s good friend and scourge of the wrestling industry, David Arquette.

  • Snoop Dogg released his debut album, Doggystyle, in 1993.

Just about every wrestler lives for their grand WrestleMania entrance. Guys like Triple H have spoken fondly about bands coming to the show to play out their superstars to the ring. Imagine if it’s one of your very first WrestleManias and you have your cousin getting inducted into the Hall Of Fame the night before playing you out on the grandest stage. That had to have been an awesome feeling for Mercedes Moné and her cousin - hip hop legend, Snoop Dogg.

  • Reed is the nephew of Peter and Lia Maivia.
  • Reed has also been in Iron Man II, Daredevil, and more.

One of the great things about the Samoan wrestling dynasty is just how much talent is within the family. Shockingly, not every member of the Anoa’i family made it into the wrestling business. One of the most acclaimed stuntpeople in Hollywood is Tanaoi Reed, nephew of Peter and Lia Maivia, The Rock’s parents.

Kurt Angle Is Jon Bernthal's Uncle

  • Jon Bernthal is married to Angle's niece, Erin Angle.
  • The couple have three children.
  • Bernthal has acted in The Walking Dead, The Bear, and The Punisher.

It’s always daunting the first time you meet your girlfriend’s family. It’s a little more than daunting when that uncle is an Olympic gold medalist. It might be even worse when even Kurt fears and respects his brother Dave and calls him the toughest of the Angle boys. That’s the life of actor Jon Bernthal, best known for playing tough guys like Shane on The Walking Dead and Frank Castle, The Punisher.

But if he ever acts tough, his in-laws could twist him into a pretzel if he ever steps out of line with his wife. But thankfully, the couple are happily wedded with three children.
